Our mission is to make the place names, history, and literature of the Pacific Northwest discoverable and easily accessible in mobile digital formats.
Vision Statement
To provide a platform for educators, historians of all stripes, and truly interested individuals with access to curated resources, references that are cited and digital tools available through this project in the hope that it will assist them with their own journeys of historical discovery with an exclusive focus on the regions of modern-day Pacific Northwest region of North America to include British Columbia, Idaho, Oregon, and Washington State.
Historical Curricula Development
It is important to create curriculum that engages students in historical inquiry. Each lesson should revolve around a central historical question and features a set of primary documents designed for groups of students with a range of reading skills.
A historical curriculum should teach students how to investigate historical questions by employing reading strategies such as sourcing, contextualizing, corroborating, and close reading. Instead of memorizing historical facts, students evaluate the trustworthiness of multiple perspectives on historical issues and learn to make historical claims backed by documentary evidence.
