"Throughout Snuneymuxw lands, there are sites recognized by place names given by their Ancestors; several are considered sacred grounds. There are well over 75 given place names that mark or tell a story of the land. Many of these place names’ meanings shared that over time oral history goes with the Elder who holds it, as Elders did before their time. Several areas are also recorded as archeological or sites of significance and are being guarded by Snuneymuxw."-- Provided by publisher
