Carlton Stone's Hillcrest a history of Vancouver Island's Hillcrest Lumber Company
|
Carlton Stone left his Essex home to follow the sea when he was fourteen and two decades later found a life’s work amid the trees of Vancouver Island, British Columbia. From his little four-man Doupe Road sawmill near Duncan grew an enterprise that once employed 500 men and ranked third among the Island’s lumber producers. |
