FLORENCE, Idaho County.—Next came the discoveries of the Salmon River, since known as the Florence Mines. This last discovery placed the capsheaf on the series of rich discoveries made during the year of 1861. Florence was named after a stepdaughter of Furber, formerly of Siskiyou County, California.—GOULDER, Reminiscences.
