John Ogilvie ("Skookum") Davidson (1892 - 1972), pioneer packer, guide and rancher in the area, established this landing after the Alaska Highway was completed in 1943. Just above the landing are the remains of a highway construction camp; Skooks would arrange for supplies to be set down on the highway there, pack them down a short trail to the landing, and boat them 150 miles up the Kechica River to his Diamond J Ranch. He used the landing until 1972, when he moved to Vancouver following a fire at the ranch. See Times-Colonist, Islander Magazine, 29-30 May 1983. Also Mount Skook Davidson.
