LOST CREEK, a small stream and town of the same name in the central part of Pend Oreille County. Two origins for the name are given. One states that a Hudson's Bay Company trapper was lost there and never found. Another states that the creek loses itself in part of its course. (Postmaster at Lost Creek, in Names MSS., Letter 422.)
