James Bergquist is telecommunications a living on Stuart Island. married to retired engineer He is Linda Ericksen Bergquist, a descendent of an early Stuart Island family. Jim and Linda have spent many years compiling historical information on Stuart Island and its people. Stuart Island is a favorite destination for boaters. They visit the marine state park and walk the roads to the lighthouse without experiencing the rich history of this remote island. This book documents the early settlers arriving on the island and their struggles to live in this remote corner of the United States. Stuart Islanders were farmers, fishermen, loggers, lighthouse keepers, and school teachers. Each has a story to tell.
