Buckley Bay (Station) adopted 2 November 1950 on 92 F at 49º 31' 25" - 124º 51' 00", as a long-established name. Form of name subsequently changed to Buckley Bay (settlement) and coordinates adjusted to 49º 32' 00" - 124º 51' 25". The dual name "Buckley Bay (Community) - Fanny Bay (Post Office)" was established by Ottawa, 15 December 1982 on 92F/10. Dual name dismantled July 1993 by Ottawa. BOTH features are to be labelled on BC maps.
Ferry landing established at Bulkley Bay c1952. Fanny Bay Post Office was relocated to Bulkley Bay (settlement) in November 1973.
Origin indefinite, but a Samuel Buckley, farmer, is listed in the 1898 Voter's List, residing at Union Bay.
