Dashwood (station) adopted 2 December 1948 on C. 3590, as identified in 1918 E&NR map. Form of name changed to Dashwood (settlement) 2 June 1949 on 92F/7. Changed to Dashwood (community) 15 September 1981 on 92F/7.
According to E&N Railway Co. (1947) the station was named after an early settler. No further explanation provided (file S.2.38)
