Began as one of the stations of the newly contructed Grand Trunk Pacific Railway. Named after Sir Richard McBride (1870-1917) who in 1903, at the age of 33, became the youngest premier in the history of British Columbia. Knighted in 1912, McBride resigned as premier in 1915 and became the province's agent-general in London, where he died two years later. "Dicky" McBride was a courtly, warm, outgoing person full of energy and ambitions for his province.
