OHOP, Henry Sicade, a local Puyallup Indian tribal leader, wrote that Ohop meant "water suddenly breaking away." Another definition for the term was that it was an Indian name meaning "pleasant." is the name for a valley in central Pierce County and a village forty miles southeast of Tacoma.
