Fife (Post Office & Flag Station) identified in the 1930 BC Gazetteer, as labelled on BC Lands' map 1EM, 1915. Identified as Fife (Post Office) in the 1953 BC Gazetteer. Fife (Post Office & Station) adopted 6 October 1955 on 82 SW. Fife (Station) identified in the 1973 supplement to the Gazetteer. Identifed as Fife (Railway Point) in the 1985 BC Gazetteer. Form of name changed to Fife (community) 2 January 1986 on 82E/1

Fife Post Office was opened 1 August 1900, named after the Duke of Fife, who had married Princess Louise, daughter of King Edward VIII. Fife Post Office was closed 18 November 1966; at the time of closing, the post office was situated on Lot 2885.
