Cascade (Village) adopted in the 18th Report of the Geographic Board of Canada, 31 March 1924, as labelled on BC map 1EM, 1915. Form of name changed to Cascade (Post Office & Station) 6 October 1955 on 82SW (file D.1.49). Form of name changed to Cascade (Railway Point) 31 December 1981, then to Cascade (Locality) 31 January 1983 on 82E/1.

"The Kettle River is compressed in a narrow canyon at the head of which a dam was built across the river, and a power plant located below the canyon, by the Cascade Water Power Company, which ran a line to Grand Forks. The Cascade Company was absorbed by the West Kootenay Power & Light Company, and the operation discontinued." (Rupert W.
