Eholt (Station) adopted 6 October 1955, as labelled on BC map 1EM, 1915 et seq; form of name changed to Eholt (locality) 11 July 1995 on 82 E/2.
Railway station & (70 car ?) siding on the divide between the North Fork of Kettle River and Boundary Creek. "Named after Louis Eholt who came into the district from Lillooet and took up land for cattle ranching here, and down Eholt Creek in 1890." (Rupert W. Haggen, BCLS, Origin of Place Names in Boundary District, 1945 manuscript, file H.1.45.). Eholt eventually became the CPR headquarters for hauling out the ore mined at Phoenix. Eholt Post Office opened 1 September 1899; closed 15 November 1948 - at the time of closing, the post office was situated in the SE portion of Lot 1222.
