Duncanby (landing) adopted 6 January 1949 on C.3779 as submitted by Hydrographic Service. Form of name changed to Duncanby Landing (steamer landing) 7 April 1955 on 92M, being the long-established local name. Form of name changed to Duncanby Landing (landing) 2 March 1961 on 92M/5 - "landing" is appropriate, as the steamer no longer stops here.

A settlement established here after 1937. "Duncanby Landing appears on the letterhead signed by James B. Graham, chart agent. It is a port of call for the Union Steamship Company's vessels; it appears wrongly spelled as "Duncansby Landing" in their timetable and also in the Canadian Railway Guide." and "Mr. Graham is the storekeeper at Duncanby Landing." (June 1944s notation by Hydrographic Service). There is a wharf here, with a store and oil station (February 1955 information from U.S.S.) This is a N.N.Co. call during commercial fishing season (February 1967 notation).
