Port Edward (Post Office and Village) adopted 3 July 1946 on C3702. Form of name changed to Port Edward (Post Office and Station) 8 July 1954 on 103J/1. Identified as Port Edward (Post Office) in 1966 B.C. Gazetteer. Incorporated as Village Municipality 29 June 1966. Re-incorporated as a District Municipality 17 April 1991, called District of Port Edward; name confirmed 8 November 1991 on 103J/1 and on 103J/8.
