After Northcote Henry Caesar, the first settler in this vicinity. Born at Downton, Wiltshire, England in 1865, arrived here May 1893. Soon after arriving he built a small steam launch, "Wanderer", 39 1/2 feet long, and was in business on Okanagan Lake. For more information see Okanagan Historical Society's 12th Report, 1948.
"With this boat we hauled booms of logs to the saw mill at Kelowna, ore from Morning Glory Mine to the mill near Okanagan Landing, dynamite to Penticton as the S.S. Aberdeen was not allowed to carry it with passengers....cricket teams to Trout Creek and Okanagan Landing for Vernon games....we also did odd jobs." (N.H. Caesar)
