Wilson Landing (town) adopted 6 October 1936 on Geological Survey sheet 420A, Kettle River, as labelled on BC map 1EM, 1915 (file K.1.36). Form of name changed to Wilson Landing (settlement) 1 December 1955 on 82E/NW. Form of name changed to Wilson Landing (Locality) 29 November 1984 on Ottawa file 203-2.
Wilson Landing Post Office was opened 1 August 1908; closed 15 October 1957. At time of closing the post office was situated on Lot 2186.Note that Wilson Landing (CPR steamer landing) was located more than 1 mile north of the settlement; CPR service from 1939 or earlier until 4 October 1955.
"After Harold Fitz-Harding Wilson, settler, 1900, who still lives here. Wilson Landing Post Office was opened August 1, 1908, Miss Marion Violet Harvey Goodacre, postmistress (she is now Mrs. George Cecil Browse and is still the postmistress)." (12th Report of the Okanagan Historical Society, 1948, citing Mrs. Browse).
