Forde (Station) adopted 8 September 1932 on 82N/SW, as labelled on Dominion sectional sheet #163, Donald, 1913, and as identified in the 1930 BC Gazetteer. Form of name changed to Forde (locality) 29 November 1984 (Ottawa file 203-2).
29 people living here (1956 census). Not listed in CPR passenger timetables after mid-1960s.
Named by CPR, after John Preston Forde, CE, divisional engineer at Revelstoke 1904-11. Later, Dominion Public Works engineer at Nelson, Victoria & New Westminster; vice-president, Alpine Club of Canada, 1912-16. Born in Ireland 1873; died at Victoria 27 February 1946 (April 1964 letter, file 01296M) (See also Mount Forde)
