"Otto Tiili was born in a small village called Kuusjarvi, a few miles south of Kuopio, Finland, on August 25, 1898. He came to Canada in the late 1920's/early 1930's. He was one of nine children but the only one who came to Canada. He took up a timber lease on Shuswap Lake in 1939 which he had until the mid 1940's. He then went to the Vancouver area where he logged in various logging camps on the west coast for a few years. He then went to the Queen Charlottes where he logged until he was killed in a logging accident on August 24, 1954. He was married in Canada and had three children, two daughters and one son."
