Origin Notes and History of Nechako
References to Nechako that document the origin of its place name
Nechako Centre (Post Office) adopted 9 September 1964. This is the only residential neighbourhood in Kitimat District Municipality that is an urban community; the other residential areas more closely resemble subdivisions, according to municipal staff. Form of name changed to Nechako (Urban Community) 15 May 1995 to conform to local usage, at the request of Kitimat DM (file L.2.45)
Formerly Kitimat Postal Station "A", name changed to Nechako Centre Postal Station 11 February 1957.
