Glentanna (Farming Settlement) adopted 5 July 1951 as identified in BC Directory and in Department of Education schools files. Form of name changed to Glentanna (locality) 29 November 1984 (Ottawa file 203-2).

Glentanna Post Office was opened 1 October 1909; closed 1 July 1913.

"The Omineca Herald (Hazelton) October 9, 1909: "Glentanna is the name of the new post office just established in the Bulkley Valley, at the Glacier House. Harry P. Jones is Postmaster." See also Post Office records, National Archives of Canada. The name Glentanna does not appear in the Bulkley Valley before this date. Glacier House was a hotel built in 1905 by George Duhamel on Lot 861, later Lot 881. The name Glacier could not be used for the post office here because a post office with this name already existed [in the Rocky Mountains]."
