Forest Grove (Post Office) adopted 3 March 1955 on 92P, as labelled on BC Lands' map 3G, 1919, and as identified in the 1930 & 1953 BC Gazetteers. Form of name changed to Forest Grove (community) 31 December 1982 on 92P/14.

Forest Grove Post Office was opened 1 August 1917, having been named by Mrs. Ida Quackenbush. [the originator of the name is identified in "Place Names of the Cariboo" an April 1943 thesis written by Helen Manning (later Helen Akrigg) in partial fulfillment for a Bachelor of Arts degree in History at UBC.]

Not named after the town in Oregon, but after a grove here. The name was suggested by a sister of E. C. Phillips, the local storekeeper, at a public meeting held to choose a name for the Post Office.
