Soda Creek (station) adopted 13 March 1947, as a long-established name. Form of name changed to Sode Creek (community) 15 April 1983 on 93B/8.

By 1863 the Cariboo Wagon Road was completed from Yale northward 300 miles to Soda Creek. Soda Creek Post Office was opened 16 September 1864; closed 30 April 1914; re-opened 16 July 1914; closed 10 December 1964. See Soda Creek (creek) for additional information.
