Riske Creek (Post Office & Settlement) adopted in the 1930 BC Gazetteer. Form of name changed to Riske Creek (community) 28 February 1983.

Marcus Smith, travelling in this area in 1872, reported, "...right in our course lay a cultivated farm, to which we descended 1,400 feet by very steep slopes, and there met the owner L. W. Riskie, Esq., a Polish gentleman, by whom we were hospitably entertained."
