Glen Lake (Post Office & Station) adopted 2 March 1950 on 92B/5. Form of name changed to Glen Lake (settlement) at some subsequent date. Form of name changed to Glen Lake (locality) 29 November 1984 on Ottawa file 203-2.

Glen Lake CNR station, Victoria-Sooke line - located 10.3 miles from Victoria station. "A new Post Office, Glen Lake, is to be established in Electoral District of Nanaimo, BC, on Parcel A, Plan 2560 Esquimalt Land District, approximately two miles west of Colwood, two and one-half miles south west of Langford Station and twelve miles west of Victoria Post Offices. The name which is being assigned to this Post Office owes its origin to the name of a lake in the District." (4 November 1946 letter from Post Office Department). Glen Lake Post Office opened 31 January 1947, located inside the general store; amalgamated as a sub-office of Victoria Post Office 1 June 1964.
