Luxton (settlement) adopted 6 November 1934 on Department of National Defense sheet 415h, Goldstream, as labelled on BC map 2A, 1913, and as identified on the 1930 BC Gazetteer (Ottawa file OBF 1449-1, and file S.2.33). Subsequently changed to Luxton (community).
Luxton Agricultural Association operating c1901. Photograph of a hunting party, E. Luxton and 5 others, 1900, Provincial Archives #F-04195. Luxton Post Office opened 1 August 1911, named after the owner of the 2-storey general store at the SE corner of Happy Valley & Sooke Roads where the post office was located; Mrs. Jessie Luff, postmistress from opening until 22 May 1914. Post office closed 30 September 1922.
