"Kyuquot" (Village) adopted 31 March 1924 on 92L/3 as labeled on Reference Map 2C "Vancouver Island, Northerly" (1919). Feature type change 19 January 1956 to Post Office as listed in 1953 Gazetteer. 31 January 1983 on 92L/3 feature type change to Community. May have previously been labeled Kuyuquot, Cayuquet, or Kayuquot (maps/dates not cited).
Named in association with local Indigenous nation and Kyuquot Sound. For name origin information see Kyuquot Sound.
According to the 1971 census the population of Kyuquot (community) was 80, and in 1976 it was 37.
