Owen Bay (Post Office) adopted 6 January 1949 on C.3521. Form of name changed to Owen Bay (settlement) in the 1966 BC Gazetteer; further changed to Owen Bay (locality) 15 June 1982 on 92K/6.

B.C. Geographical Names in Province of British Columbia

Wyatt Bay Post Office was opened 1 December 1913, located on Octopus Island in the entrance to Waiatt Bay. Moved across Okisollo Channel to Owen Bay on Sonora Island, and re-named Owen Bay Post Office 23 July 1946; closed 27 August 1958.
