Mansons Landing (Post Office, Steamer Landing, Settlement) adopted 6 April 1950 on 92 NW. Identified as Mansons Landing (Post Office) in the 1966 BC Gazetteer. Form of name changed to Mansons Landing (community) 31 May 1982 on 92 K/2.
Cortez Island Post Office was opened 1 April 1893, Michael Manson, postmaster; closed 1 December 1898; re-opened 1 May 1904. Name changed to Mansons Landing Post Office 9 July 1941.
"After Michael Manson, a Shetland Islander who, with his brother John, maintained a trading post here from 1887 to 1895. Later he represented the Comox riding in Victoria."
