Yaculta (Indian Village) adopted adopted 6 January 1949 on C.3565. Form of name changed to Yaculta (Settlement) 6 November 1952 on 92K. "Yaculta (settlement), not Cape Mudge (settlement)" confirmed 9 May 1975. Form of name changed to Yaculta (Community) 15 June 1982 on 92K/3
"Cape Mudge" submitted April 1975, being the well-established local name of this settlement as identified by Campbell River-area utility companies. Cape Mudge Indian Band Office advised that "Yaculta" was the correct name of the settlement, despite extensive local use of "Cape Mudge".
