Origin Notes and History of Pink Mountain
References to Pink Mountain that document the origin of its place name
Beatton River (settlement) adopted 7 January 1952 on 94 G, located at Mile 147. Pink Mountain (Post Office) adopted at the same location 4 June 1953, in anticipation of the September opening of the new post office. To avoid confusion with the PGER station called Beatton just 40+ miles northeast, and the airstrip known as Beatton just 25+ miles northeast, area residents agreed that the name of the settlement should match the name of the post office. Beatton River (settlement) changed to Pink Mountain (settlement) 1 October 1953 on 94G/2. Application altered 1 December 1960 on 94SE, after post office was relocated to Mile 143. Form of name changed to Pink Mountain (locality) 28 February 1983 on 94 G/2.
Pink Mountain Post Office opened 10 September 1953, located at Mile 147; relocated to Mile 143 on 8 April 1960.
