Prespatou (settlement) adopted 2 August 1973, at 56 54 - 121 03 on 94A/14. Coordinates adjusted 30 January 1981 to 56 56 - 121 03. Form of name changed to Prespatou (Community) 28 February 1983 on 94 A/14.

Prespatou (Post Office) opened 29 January 1975, located at 56 53 - 120 56 (about 5 miles east of the settlement of Prespatou, in the area called Altona). Prespatou Post Office renamed Altona Post Office 1 May 1976. Another Prespatou Post Office was opened 10 August 1976, located within the community of Prespatou.

"...residents are Mennonite families who moved from Saskatchewan in 1960-61. This was a remote, isolated area and is now an established farming community. Agriculture is the sole industry. Prespatou Elementary School was opened in 1964 with 60 students; now 140 students enrolled from Grades 1 through 8." (27 July 1973 letter from School District, file B.1.49)
