Ware (Post Office) adopted 17 January 1951 on 94F; confirmed 1 October 1953 on 94F. Form of name changed to Ware (Community) 29 November 1984 on Ottawa file 203-2. Form of name changed back to Ware (Post Office) 3 February 1988 on 94F/15 (the community itself is well-known as "Fort Ware").

Ware Post Office was opened 12 March 1938, William Ralph Parsons, postmaster. "Mail is received on the 2nd Saturday of July, August, September & October." (1938 survey notes for Lot 4840, by G. Jackson, BCLS). Post Office closed 9 May 1953; re-opened 15 March 1962.

"....new Post Office being established under the name of Ware, in the Electoral District of Cariboo, BC. The proposed office will be located 69 miles N of Fort Graham and 150 miles SW of Fort Nelson. The name which is being assigned the office is that of a retired District Manager of the Hudson's Bay Company.... buried at Brampton cemetery, London England, 22 June 1915."
