Brisco (Post Office) adopted 20 January 1955 on Columbia River Basin manuscript 45, as labelled on BC map 1EM, 1915 et seq, and as identified in 1930 BC Gazetteer. Form of name changed to Brisco (Community) 15 December 1892 on 82K/16.

Columbia Valley Post Office was opened 1 September 1895. Re-named Brisco Post Office 1 June 1899, in association with Brisco Range.

Name suggested by Henry Atcheson, supposed to be the name of a range of mountains named after Lord Briscombe (citing a 1905 letter from postmaster A.H. Mitchell to James White, Canada's Chief Geographer). [Note: this is not the origin of the name Brisco Range.]
