References to Flathead that document the origin of its place name

Flathead (Customs Post) adopted 6 April 1950 on BC Lands' map 4D (Ottawa file OBF 2777). Advised by Customs Dept (Canada) that this border crossing is managed from the U.S. facility just south of the boundary. Changed to "locality" 4 July 1962 on 82G/SE as there is no permanent population here (file I.1.54). Not to be confused with the former settlement or townsite called Flathead, about 25 miles north of here.
