Caithness (Station) adopted 7 December 1950 on Columbia River Basin manuscript 52, as labelled on BC map 1EM, 1915; had been listed in 1930 BC Gazetteer as a flag stop. Form of name changed to Caithness (Community) 29 November 1984.
