Chapman Camp (Post Office & settlement) adopted in the 1930 BC Gazetteer. Form of name changed to Chapman Camp (Village) 12 December 1939 on 82/SE. Incorporated within City of Kimberley 1 November 1968. Form of name changed to Chapman Camp (railway point) 1 October 1981 on 82G/12. Form of name changed to Chapman Camp (community) 29 November 1984.

Chapman Camp Post Office was opened 1 August 1925; closed 17 September 1966.

After Fred G. Chapman, superintendant of construction for Consolidated Mining & Smelting Company (Cominco), and West Kootenay Power & Light Company for many years. Constructed the famous Sullivan concentrator at Kimberley. Died at Nelson 22 January 1947, age 61.
