Corbin (settlement) adopted 12 December 1939 on 82SE, as labelled on BC map 1EM, 1915. Form of name changed to Corbin (locality) 27 July 1964.

"Daniel Chase Corbin (1836-1918), Spokane, railway builder, land and coal mine owner, promoter of irrigation projects, sugar beet factory, etc, founded this place in 1908. Post Office established 1909, Dr. John Stanhope Gladwin postmaster." (Provincial Archives' Place Names File, compiled 1945-1950 by A.G. Harvey) compare with: "After Austin Corbin II ( -1945), from Spokane; president of Corbin Collieries and president of Eastern British Columbia Railway Company; the Corbin family were prominent capitalists in Spokane in the early days."
