Ambleside (settlement) adopted 21 November 1961 on 92G/6E as identified in steamer timetables until mid-1956. Form of name changed to Ambleside (community) in 1984.

Previously recorded as Ambleside (Steamer Landing) - this was the West Vancouver Ferry Terminus. Ferry no longer running according December 1956 information from Department of Highways. Omitted from 92G/6 editions 3 & 4 (1974 & 1981); incorrectly positioned and labelled as a transportation facility on 92G/6 edition 5, 1989.

Named by Mr. Morris Williams, a tailor, who arrived here 1912 and resided in this part of West Vancouver; Williams formerly lived in the English Lake District, and Ambleside was a town at the head of Lake Windermere, Westmoreland.
