Bergs (locality) adopted 4 August 1955 on C.3435. Form of name changed to Bergs (Abandoned Locality) 30 October 1992 on 92G/7.

Harbour Navigation Co. advised in 1955 that this is a permanently-occupied settlement and a scheduled stop on Harbour Navigation's timetable (earliest date not cited). Logging is also done here. According to Canadian Hydrographic Service's 1984 Small Craft Guide, this was the site of a sand and gravel operation, but the loading facilities are now in ruins; some remnants of machinery are still on site. GVRD Parks and Planning confirmed in 1992 that this locality is abandoned.
