Caulfeild (Post Office) adopted 7 December 1937 on 92G/6, as labelled on BC map 2B, 1914. Form of name changed to Caulfeild (Settlement) 3 April 1959 on 92G; since changed to Caulfeild (Community).

Post Office was opened 1 June 1920; closed 28 March 1955. At the time of closing, the Post Office was situated on SE 1/4 Block 2, Lot 811.

After Francis William Caulfeild, to whom entirely is due its present fine surroundings. Caulfeild bought land here in 1899 and laid out part as a model village; first lots sold in 1909.

This tract of land was first pre-empted by a Scandinavian named Nils Frolander, who after obtaining a Crown Grant sold the property to Mr. John Balfour Kerr. In the 1890's it was again sold to Mr. Francis W. Caulfeild, an Englishman travelling through Canada. He makes his home in England but frequently visits his property on Burrard Inlet. With great generosity he has given much of his land to the municipality for public parks. (from an article appearing in the Sunday Province, 26 July 1925)

....a most attractive English gentleman in the old tradition. In 1899, won by the beauty of the wild flowers, woods and beaches of the area, he bought the land between Cypress Creek and Point Atkinson. Himself a lover of beautiful English villages, he sought to create one here. Rejecting the uncompromising grid universally imposed on North American settlements, he laid out winding streets which followed the natural contours of the wooded slopes. He made a public park of the strip of land on the waterfront. Caulfeild died in 1934, aged about ninety.
