Fern Ridge (settlement) adopted 3 May 1951 on 92G/2, as labelled on BC Lands' map 2B, 1914, and as idenitified in the 1949 BC Directory. Form of name subsequently adjusted to Fern Ridge (community).

Fern Ridge Post Office was opened 1 July 1908; closed 15 October 1926. At the time of closing, the post office was situated on SE 1/4, W 1/2, Sec 23, Tp 7, W6M.
