Old Ahousat (Village) adopted 3 April 1934. Name changed to Chetarpe (Indian Village) 6 November 1934 on C.340 in accordance with the report of the Royal Commission on Indian Affairs. Form of name changed to Chetarpe Village (Settlement) 7 January 1947 on 92E/1 and 92F/4; adjusted to Chetarpe (Settlement) in the 1953 BC Gazetteer; adjusted to Chetarpe (Locality) 15 February 1983 on 92E/1.
