"The name means dry rapids, referring to the small peninsula here that was only evident when water levels were low. He on his part went to Sarita Lake. Its name is Wihat'a - Dry Rapids, from wiihshilth, meaning to dry up." (Huu-ay-aht Place Names in the Chief Louie Nookemus historial accounts, c1964, shared September 2009 in the context of the Maa-nulth Treaty.)
