The name means "Looks like Kiix-in" because the rock bluff here is so similar to the bluff at the principal village in Barkley Sound. "They became a village, they who went up the river and set up a village at Kiikiixink'ok. It is far up the river, maybe five miles from Sarita (Kuuk-swiis)." (Huu-ay-aht Place Names in the Chief Louie Nookemus historial accounts, c1964, shared September 2009 in the context of the Maa-nulth Treaty.)
