The beach or shoreline in front this village was called Toop'atsit. "We are going to play a big game at the beach of Toop'atsit. This beach is at what is now called Tapaltos Bay." (Huu-ay-aht Place Names in the Chief Louie Nookemus historial accounts, c1964, shared September 2009 in the context of the Maa-nulth Treaty.)
