Yarksis (village) adopted 3 April 1934 on C.348, in association with the name of the Indian Reserve. Confirmed 7 January 1947 on 92F/4. Identified as Yarksis (settlement) in the 1953 BC Gazetteer. Form of name identified as Yarksis (community) as of December 1974.
