Within the Hahoultee of Klaawanuk. Billy Happynook said the name means "village along the west coast with a bay (bight) within it". Alex Williams said they anchored here during a big westerly. (Huu-ay-aht Place Names in the Chief Louie Nookemus historial accounts, c1964, shared September 2009 in the context of the Maa-nulth Treaty.)
