Blackloam (settlement) adopted in the 1930 BC Gazetteer, as labelled on BC map 1EM, 1915. Form of name changed to Blackloam (locality) 4 June 1959 on 92I/9; confirmed as a locality 24 August 1978 on 92I/NE, following amalgamation into the City of Kamloops.
Blackloam Post Office opened 1 May 1913; situated on Sec 26, Tp 19, R 17, W6M. Post Office closed 31 May 1921.
... a deliberate misnomer, given about 1910 by land developers to part of the Rose Hill area in the attempt to induce settlers to populate the dry belt. Neither the name nor the arable farmers persisted; the land reverted to cattle.
